 What says Vegeta wasn't a SSj in the future timeline, and Trunks just wasn't born powerful like Goten or Present Trunks? He was already a SSj when we saw him in the manga, so that could've been his little perk thanks to Vegeta being a SSj during conception.

Vegeta was already training hard as hell to ascend before Trunks even came into the picture, so Trunks doesn't have too huge a bearing on his anger trip. He could have just ascended at any random point.

But think about this. We know SSj Vegeta was killed by the Cyborgs, but what says Vegeta didn't become a SSj until after Goku's death? I don't remember anything being said that he would stop fighting/training in that timeline after Goku's death, but if there is then lemme know. Anyway, so Goku's death could have been his trigger, and then it fits in perfectly with Trunks not being born extremely powerful.

The only time I heard Vegeta say he would stop fighting was when Goku died in the present (most likely because Vegeta's goal was to become stronger than Goku who at the time didn't exist anymore).

I'd assume Vegeta probably did the same in the future and that he became a SSJ before Goku died from the heart virus.

 Yeah there's no evidence that denies him becoming an SSJ in the future.
Unless you go off one very quick flashback of the future where we see future Vegeta as base then no.
No evidence, so we can safely assume he was SSJ. He would still go to space and train to become a SSJ because what drove him to do so was Goku becoming SSJ- something that happened in the future.

Crazy Awesome Legend

 Trunks was that powerful because he trained with Vegeta in intense gravity. Future Trunks didn't have that luxury.

 But Goten didn't train under gravity and he was just a little bit weaker than Trunks.
